A Woman’s Day #throughglass

I was approached to work on a PSA that would lead the audience into thinking they were watching a Google Glass advert. As I had no access to the device, I had to research Google Glass interface graphics and animations for a few days to recreate and compile the elements needed for the video from scratch.

Global Game Jam 2013

My students and I spent a weekend at SAE Institute London covering the madness that is Global Game Jam. In this fantastic event, game developers are given just 48 hours to come up with, code, and release a working game! Much sleep was lost; many poor eating habits exhibited.

This is also an example of what happens when an editor is given carte blanche on the choice of music. I picked three tracks I thought did the event justice and had fun mixing them in this 5 minute clip.

‘Party for Freedom’ (for video artist Oreet Ashery)

Oreet Ashery is a London-based video artist who has been an active member of the art community since the 80’s.

She approached me about her project Party for Freedom – a travelling video installation that is accompanied by a live performance and carries strong social, political and abstract messages (some nudity in video below).

It is amongst some of the most unusual work I’ve done and was a valuable learning experience, as I was following the specifications of an artist with her own visual demands (rather than doing what I felt was ‘right’).

Dave Shakespeare pilot (directed by Graeme Mackenzie and Frank Tamburin)

One of the first VFX jobs I did outside of film school. I worked as the VFX compositor, painter and rotoscoper on the Dave Shakespeare pilot (directed by Graeme Mackenzie and Frank Tamburin; produced by Mouktar Mohammed).

The half-hour comedy episode (based on William Shakespeare’s unwitting, time-travelling brother) is not available online, but I also did the worked on the following promo clip (motion graphics and titles):

As of July 2013, the show is slated for an animated series release.

A partial break-down of the graphics I worked on can by seen at 01:24 on the 2012 Title and Motion Graphics showreel. The images below show the before/afters of some corrections and screen replacements:
